The Multidisciplinary Area of Research on Sustainability (MARS) invites you to the workshop :
Ecosystem Integrity and Policy Coherence for Development: Tools Aimed at Achieving Balance as the Basis for Transformative Development In response to criticisms of the Millennium Development Goals, the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda has focused more on development relationships than on development indicators. The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) aim to establish development strategies that are transformative and universal in nature. While observers applaud the ambition of these goals, many development actors have questioned how they can be implemented. This presentation examines “balanced” development as a framework for transformative and universal strategies. Specifically, the discussion will examine the relationship between science and policy and by examining two concepts that have emerged as part of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda: Ecosystem Integrity and Policy Coherence for Development.
